Emergency Response

Basic Life Support Ambulance

(BLS)

Basic Life Support Ambulance (BLS) is staffed with two department of Health Certified Medical Technicians (EMT's). Our ambulances are designed for pre-hospital medical response as well as inter-facility and non-emergency transportation or injured or ill patients. EMT's are permitted to perform basic airway procedures, administer oxygen, use Automated External Defibrillators (AED's), perform stabilization and splinting and many other skills. The crew members will also obtain information regarding past medical history, medications and allergies, and provide transportation to the hospital or other medically related destinations.

Advanced Life Support

Ambulance

(ALS)

Advanced Life Support Ambulance (ALS) is staffed with at least two trained staff, one of whom is an EMT-Paramedic or higher. These vehicles most commonly respond to patients whose medical conditions are more serious and may require advanced medical and/or trauma assessment and procedures. Paramedics are trained to handle both ALS and BLS transports. Paramedics are allowed to establish intravenous access (IV's), administer medications, perform chest decompressions, conduct cardiac monitoring and advanced airway procedures including intubation (breathing tube placement).
